What Is A Scrub Cap?

What is a scrub cap?

A scrub cap is a head covering that is worn by nurses and doctors in the operating room. It helps protect their hair from getting cut or pulled out by surgical instruments.

The scrub cap was invented in the 1960s by a nurse, which she called it "scrub hat." The first scrub caps were made from cotton and polyester. They were not very comfortable to wear because they had stiff brims. In the 1980s, more comfortable materials such as nylon and polyester were used for making these caps. They also have elastic bands instead of stiff brims now.

In recent years, there has been a trend of wearing different colours on these caps to show different roles or jobs performed in an operating room. For example, green for nurses, blue for surgeons, white for anaesthesia.
