What's changed for EU customers

From 1 July 2026, the European Union removed its long-standing €150 duty-free threshold. This means every order entering the EU — including ours, shipped from the UK — now has a small customs duty applied, alongside the import VAT that already applied.

The good news: we collect everything for you at checkout. The price you see when you pay is the final price — there are no surprise fees from the courier and nothing to pay at your door.

What you pay at checkout

  • Import VAT — charged at your own country's standard rate, the same as buying locally.
  • EU customs charge — a flat €3 per product type in your order, set by the EU (not by us). Because all of our scrub caps share the same customs category, ordering several caps together still counts as one product type — so a multi-cap order is normally just €3 in total.

Both are shown clearly on the checkout page before you pay, and both are sent on to the authorities on your behalf.

Why this is happening

The change applies to all retailers shipping into the EU, regardless of where they're based. It's part of an EU customs reform to create a level playing field between online imports and local high-street shops. The €3 flat charge is a temporary measure running until mid-2028. You can read the official announcement on the European Commission's website.

Quick answers

Will I be asked to pay anything when my parcel arrives?
No. Everything is paid at checkout (this is called “Delivered Duty Paid”). Your courier won't ask you for duty, VAT or a handling fee on delivery.

I'm ordering several caps — do I pay €3 on each one?
No. The €3 applies once per product type, and all our caps fall under the same customs category, so a basket of caps is normally a single €3 charge.

Has the VAT changed?
No. Import VAT at your country's rate already applied and is unchanged — we've simply added the new customs charge alongside it.

Which countries does this affect?
All 27 EU member states. Orders to the UK, and to non-EU countries such as Norway, Switzerland and the USA, follow their own separate rules.
