📐 How we measure at Medicus

Three measurements cover every fit question. For a standard size, head circumference is the one that matters — the other two help us fine-tune custom and bulk orders.

1. Head circumference

Wrap a soft tape measure around the widest part of your head — over the ears or just above, matching where your chosen style will sit. Keep the tape level across the middle of your forehead, and read the number where it meets at the back. Snug, not tight.

2. Ear to ear

From the top of one ear, up and over the crown of your head, to the top of the other ear.

3. Forehead to nape

From the middle of your forehead at your hairline, straight over the top of your head, down to the nape of your neck.

💇 Longer, thicker or protective-style hair?

Measure with your hair how you'll wear it at work. If you tuck your hair inside your cap, bring the tape over the bulk of your hair at the back — your hair is part of the measurement. Thick, curly and afro hair, braids and locs usually mean going 1–2 sizes up, and our Bouffant 2XL and Braid Pouch styles are designed exactly for this.

🧵 No tape measure?

Wrap any string, lanyard or phone cable the same way, pinch where it meets, then lay it flat against a ruler. No ruler? An A4 sheet's long edge is 29.7cm and a bank card is 8.6cm.
