Who we are
- Medicus Caps is the trading name of The Medicus Group Ltd, a UK company based in Sheffield, England.
- We have made reusable scrub caps since 2018.
- Every cap is made to order in Sheffield by our own team.
- We sell direct to individuals through medicuscaps.com and to organisations, including NHS trusts, through wholesale accounts. We are trusted by NHS trusts and supply hospitals, dental and veterinary practices, clinics and other teams across the UK, with some export.
What the caps are
- Medicus caps are workwear. They are not PPE and not a medical device, and we make no infection control or protective claims for them.
- Our core range is 100% cotton. The exceptions: the Contour stretch cap is 95% cotton and 5% spandex; caps made from licensed football club fabric are poly-cotton; the hemp cap is 100% hemp.
- Caps made from licensed printed fabric (for example Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, Harry Potter) are sewn by us from fabric bought as cloth. They are not official merchandise and we are not affiliated with the rights holders.
- Plain cotton caps are described as hypoallergenic. Printed caps are not.
Styles and sizes
- We make ten styles: Bandana, Captain, Crown, Duchess, Bouffant, Pony, Braid Pouch, Turban, Hijab and Ortho Hood (surgical hood), plus the Contour stretch cap and a Flux Peak add-on.
- Printed caps are offered in eight fits chosen at checkout: Bandana, Captain, Duchess, Crown, Bouffant, Pony, Turban and Surgical Hood. The Hijab and Braid Pouch are listed as their own products.
- Sizes run XS to 2XL and fit head circumferences from under 51cm to over 65cm, depending on style. Each style has its own size chart on the sizing guide, and the head measurement tool shows how to measure.
- Custom sizes and pattern changes are available on bulk orders of 50 or more caps.
Prints and personalisation
- More than 800 prints and over 30 plain colours are available online, with 90 or more plain colours on bulk orders.
- Name and role, department and logo embroidery, and vinyl lettering, are done in-house. The custom scrub caps listing shows a preview of the text as you type.
- There is no minimum order for logo embroidery. Bulk pricing starts from 10 caps and is quoted on enquiry.
- Custom printed fabric (a customer's own design printed onto the cloth) is available and takes about a week before sewing.
Lead times and delivery
- Every cap is made to order. Dispatch is typically 2 to 3 working days. Priority dispatch is available.
- Embroidered and personalised caps can take a little longer. Custom printed fabric takes about a week.
- Team orders: small runs in a few days; roll-outs of thousands of caps in 4 to 6 weeks depending on customisation.
- Delivery is charged at checkout. We do not offer free UK delivery as standard.
- Custom and personalised caps are made to the buyer's choices and cannot be returned unless faulty or wrong. The sample box lets you try real caps first: you pay a refundable deposit, returned when the samples come back.
Washing and lifespan
- Where NHS workwear policy applies, wash at 60°C. In non-surgical settings such as vet and dental practices, a normal wash is fine. Follow your own employer's policy.
- Higher temperatures shorten the life of any cap. Some customers put plain caps through autoclaves, though it shortens their life.
- Many of our customers wear theirs for years.
- As a guide, a full-time member of staff on two sessions a day uses about 464 disposable caps a year.

- Each cap carries its own ID and a Digital Product Passport, giving a per-item record for traceability.
- Our EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) authorised representative is EAS.
- We have a Carbon Reduction Plan, available on request.
- ISO 9001 documentation is in progress.
