Worth knowing before you order
- Check your trust's theatre attire policy first. Policies differ between hospitals.
- Plain caps are 100% cotton and machine washable at 60°C, following NHS guidelines.
- Every cap is made to order in our Sheffield workshop, for heads from under 51cm to over 65cm depending on style.
- Medicus caps are workwear. They are not PPE or a medical device.
Questions people ask
Which style is best for theatre?
Your hair decides most of it. The Captain is the most popular with theatre staff and sits above the ears. If you need your ears covered, look at the Bandana or Duchess. For coverage of the whole neck, the Ortho Hood.
How do I get the size right?
Measure around your head once, where the cap will sit, and check it against the sizing guide. Find my size takes about a minute.
How should I wash it?
Plain caps machine wash at 60°C. We've also tested them on industrial laundry cycles over 100°C, though hotter washes shorten a cap's life. Follow your own trust's laundering policy.
Can my whole team get matching caps?
Yes. Team orders can mix styles and sizes, with each person's own name and role. Bulk pricing starts from 10 caps and is quoted on enquiry.
Ordering for your theatre team?
One theatre or a whole department. Everyone gets their own size and name. Want to try styles first? A sample box is a deposit, refunded when the box comes back.
